Our venue features state-of-the-art equipment for outstanding sound, lighting, and HVAC plus comfortable, plush seating, and accessibility for your guests. A Venue Full of Charm and History
Built in 1857 in the Gothic Revival style, our building’s details are stunning. (You can read our building’s history here.) Architectural features include locally-quarried blue dolomite limestone, a dramatic central tower, and pointed arch mullioned windows. Inside you’ll find original and refurbished design features, such as half-timbered walls, dormers, and gothic arches. All these details add a touch of timeless elegance to your wedding day.
Perfect Spaces for Your Wedding
Our largest space, the Sanctuary, is spectacular! With world-renowned acoustics and its original stained glass windows, it’s the perfect setting for a wedding of up to 280 guests: seating for 250 people on the ground floor (14 handicap accessible seats) and 30 in the balcony.
The Great Hall can accommodate 100 people seated for your reception. For weddings of over 100 guests we recommend a tent in our garden for dinner with dancing in the Great Hall.
The intimate, light-filled East Room holds 65 people seated and is a charming spot for cocktails, dancing and dessert—a great spot for your guests to mingle.
When you reserve Saint James Place for your wedding, you have access to the entire first floor, including well-lit dressing rooms for the bridal party.
We offer a state-of-the-art theatrical lighting system. Our sound system includes two wireless, hand-held microphones and four lavalier microphones.

Whether you have a grand wedding or a more intimate gathering, a Saint James Place professional will be on site all day and evening to ensure that every resource in our venue is meeting your needs.
We work closely with our couples and wedding planners (and mothers-of-the-brides and grooms) to coordinate all of the ins and outs of Saint James Place. A Saint James Place professional will be on site for your rehearsal and with you every minute of your big day. We believe this level of service helps ensure a wonderful, stress-free event for all.
We are an inclusive space. No longer a consecrated Episcopal Church, Saint James Place welcomes any and all religions, traditions, and ways of living.
Yes, absolutely! We have designated handicapped parking for those who might need extra help, and the entire building is accessible. For younger guests we are lucky to have an award-winning playground adjacent to Saint James Place. It’s a great place for the little ones to run around (with supervision).
We have special relationships with many caterers , florists, photographers and other vendors. Click here for our list of preferred vendors. However, we are happy to work with the people you choose.
Saint James Place has a parking lot with 22 spaces. We have close relationships with our neighbors in Great Barrington and are able to access adjacent parking lots.
