The mission of The People’s Pantry is to reduce hunger in the Southern Berkshires by distributing food in a manner that preserves the dignity and sense of self-worth of each shopper. All are welcome and there are no income guidelines and no limits on shopper visits. In 1999 the People’s Panty began in the garage of Saint James Church. In 2010 the Pantry opened in its new permanent home at Saint James Place. When renovating the building, providing a home for the People’s Pantry was a top priority. Saint James Place values the contributions the People’s Pantry makes to our community.

The People’s Pantry has added Monday evening shopping hours on a trial basis starting Monday, February 3, from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. These extended hours are in addition to the long-standing Thursday morning hours of 9 AM -1 PM. Read our blog post on The People’s Pantry here.
