“Unbleaching The Souls of Black Folk” is a free public event on May 22 at 5:00pm here at Saint James Place. The experience is co-facilitated by Gwendolyn Van Sant, the CEO and co-founder of Multicultural Bridge, and Luci Leonard, former vice-president of the Berkshires NAACP.

“Black voices will speak about the experience and consequences of being seen as ‘a problem’ – as W.E.B. DuBois wrote. In this divided world, it’s crucial that we change how we talk to, listen to and see each other. Change is uncomfortable. This is a fact. Truth is often hard. This is also a fact. Come listen to and see our truths.”

The Great Barrington Project is an ongoing community art and discussion event rooted in the ideas and writings of Great Barrington, Massachusetts native son W.E.B. Du Bois. The creator is Delano Burrowes, a writer, artist and curator and also a Great Barrington native son.
