How do we support our community?

The People’s Pantry of Great Barrington has a permanent home here. The Pantry began in 1999 in the garage of the St. James Place church and continues today on the Taconic Street side of our building with its own entrance and plenty of space for storage, shelving, and shoppers. The Pantry’s mission is to respectfully serve our neighbors experiencing food insecurity by distributing healthy food, locally sourced whenever feasible and we’re honored to support them.

Our arts and culture hub is a flexible home for our arts partners. We provide office space, rehearsal space, and performance space at reasonable rates, allowing each organization the freedom to concentrate on their work.

We open our doors for free family events during December’s holiday season, including Charlie’s Model Trains and Vocalis Youth Choir’s concert on the evening of the Southern Berkshire Chamber’s Shop, Sip & Stroll. With the annual holiday performance of the Berkshire Lyric Chorus, along with the Delightful & Delectable Holiday Market each year as well, Saint James Place is your home for the holidays!

ArtWeek in May features free interactive performances for the whole family, with programs from the Aston Magna Music Festival, Great Barrington Public Theater, and more.
