A Fall Wedding at Saint James Place
Imagine your fall wedding in Great Barrington… crispness in the air but the days are still warm and the Berkshires shine yellow and red and orange in the autumn sun. September through the end of October is a beautiful and bustling time in the Berkshires, so you’ve chosen well to get married this time of year.
Friday afternoon your guests begin to arrive. They can chose from elegant accommodations: The Barrington, a boutique hotel in the heart of Great Barrington; the historic Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge; or the more moderately priced Fairfield Marriott and Days Inn.
Will your guests head out for a leaf peeping tour? A drive up the highest mountain in Massachusetts, Mount Greylock is always a fall highlight. The more adventurous might take a hike up Monument Mountain where legend has it Herman Melville and Nathaniel Hawthorne discussed Moby Dick for the first time.
And- Saint James Place is right in the middle of town, a perfect spot for catered cocktails and your rehearsal dinner. Or you can opt for cocktails and dinner at dozens of amazing restaurants in Great Barrington or in the surrounding Southern Berkshires towns (we’re happy to make suggestions).
A great way to start your Saturday morning is the Great Barrington farmer’s market, it runs through October. Fall is the best time to see the incredible harvest and to purchase fresh and local fruits, vegetables, bread, coffee, cheese and crafts. When it’s time to start getting ready for the wedding, Great Barrington has many salons to choose from or have your makeup and hair done right at Saint James Place in the bride’s ready room (we have a room for the groom too).
